Description

This Aperol Spritz Cranberry Sauce is tart, citrusy, and just a little bit boozy—like your favorite cocktail turned into a dazzling holiday side.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz Fresh or Frozen Cranberries
  • 1/2 cup Aperol
  • 1/2 cup Prosecco or Sparkling Wine
  • 1/2 cup Fresh Orange Juice
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup Granulated Sugar (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Orange Zest
  • Pinch of Salt
  • Optional: Splash of Vanilla Extract, 1 Cinnamon Stick or Star Anise

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine Aperol, Prosecco, orange juice, and sugar over medium heat. Stir to dissolve.
  2. Add cranberries and a pinch of salt. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  3. Cook 10–12 minutes, until cranberries burst and sauce thickens.
  4. Remove from heat. Stir in orange zest and optional vanilla or spices.
  5. Cool before serving. Refrigerate up to 1 week.

Notes

  • Simmering helps mellow the alcohol while preserving the flavor.
  • Taste and adjust sugar depending on sweetness preference and tartness of cranberries.
  • For a smoother sauce, mash with a spoon or blend lightly.
