- 2 large Eggs
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1/3 cup Whole Milk or Buttermilk
- 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cloves (optional)
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar + 1 tablespoon Cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
- Preheat Your Equipment: Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a donut pan thoroughly.
- Combine Ingredients: Reduce apple cider in a saucepan to 1/2 cup. Cool. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. In another bowl, mix eggs, sugars, melted butter, milk, vanilla, and reduced cider.
- Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Use a piping bag or zip-top bag to fill the donut pan neatly and easily.
- Assemble the Dish: Fill donut cavities about 2/3 full with batter. Smooth tops if needed.
- Cook to Perfection: Bake for 12–15 minutes until tops spring back. Cool in pan 5 minutes, then on wire rack.
- Finishing Touches: Brush warm donuts with melted butter and coat in cinnamon sugar mix.
- Serve and Enjoy: Enjoy warm with cider, coffee, or as a midday snack.
Notes
- Don’t skip reducing the cider—it’s key for flavor.
- Let donuts cool slightly before coating so the sugar sticks.
- Use a wire rack to cool to prevent sogginess.
- Store in airtight container to keep fresh for days.
