Ingredients
Scale
- 2 slices thick bread (such as brioche or sourdough)
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup fresh berries (optional)
- Powdered sugar for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, egg, maple syrup, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Place bread slices on the baking sheet and use a spoon to press a shallow well into the center of each slice.
- Pour the custard mixture into the wells of the bread, filling them generously.
- Top with fresh berries if using.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, until custard is set and bread is golden.
- Let cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
- Use thick, sturdy bread to hold the custard without becoming soggy.
- Greek yogurt gives the best creamy texture, but regular yogurt can work too.
- Top with chocolate chips, nuts, or fruit jams for fun variations.
