Description

Creamy, fruity, and slightly sweet, Custard Yogurt Toast is a quick and delicious breakfast made with thick bread, yogurt, egg, and maple syrup. It bakes into a soft, custardy center with golden edges—perfect for topping with fresh berries or enjoying on its own.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices thick bread (such as brioche or sourdough)
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup fresh berries (optional)
  • Powdered sugar for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together Greek yogurt, egg, maple syrup, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Place bread slices on the baking sheet and use a spoon to press a shallow well into the center of each slice.
  4. Pour the custard mixture into the wells of the bread, filling them generously.
  5. Top with fresh berries if using.
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until custard is set and bread is golden.
  7. Let cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use thick, sturdy bread to hold the custard without becoming soggy.
  • Greek yogurt gives the best creamy texture, but regular yogurt can work too.
  • Top with chocolate chips, nuts, or fruit jams for fun variations.
