- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 1 pound (450g) ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon ground cumin
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
- 1 egg, beaten (for sealing and brushing)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200°C (392°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic until soft. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
- Stir in tomato paste, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5 more minutes. Mix in parsley if using. Let filling cool.
- Roll out puff pastry and cut each sheet into 4 squares (8 total).
- Spoon filling onto one side of each square, fold over to seal, and crimp with a fork. Brush tops with egg.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and puffed.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Cool the filling completely before assembling to avoid soggy pastry.
- Freeze unbaked pastries for later and bake straight from frozen.
- Add shredded cheese to the filling for an extra indulgent twist.
