Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup uncooked white rice
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil.
- Add the ground beef, onion, and garlic, then cook until the beef is browned and the onion is soft.
- Drain excess fat if needed and spread the beef mixture evenly in the skillet.
- Stir in the uncooked rice, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then cover and cook for 18 to 20 minutes until the rice is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.
- Cover the skillet and cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the cheese is melted.
- Remove from heat, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve warm.
Notes
- Stir gently during cooking to prevent the rice from sticking.
- Let the skillet rest for a few minutes before serving so the texture sets.
- Add a splash of broth when reheating if needed.
