A comforting oven-baked dish made with seasoned minced beef, tender potato layers, and a light creamy sauce that comes together into a hearty family meal.

- 500 g minced beef
- 700 g potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 250 ml milk
- 30 g butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Heat a frying pan over medium heat and cook the minced beef with the onion and garlic until browned. Season with salt and black pepper.
- Lightly grease a baking dish.
- Arrange a layer of sliced potatoes in the bottom of the dish, then add a layer of the cooked mince. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
- In a small pan, melt the butter, stir in the flour, then slowly whisk in the milk until smooth.
- Pour the sauce evenly over the layered dish.
- Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 15 minutes until lightly golden.
- Rest for 5 minutes before serving.

- Slice potatoes evenly to ensure consistent cooking.
- Allow the bake to rest before serving so the layers set properly.
