Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces mozzarella cheese, cut into bite-sized cubes
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- Pour vegetable oil into a heavy-bottomed pan about 2 inches deep and heat to 350°F.
- Set up a breading station with three bowls: flour in the first, beaten eggs in the second, and a mix of breadcrumbs, garlic powder, oregano, and salt in the third.
- Line a plate with paper towels for draining fried nuggets.
- Dip each mozzarella cube in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs. For an extra crunchy shell, repeat the egg and breadcrumb step.
- Fry in batches for about 1 to 2 minutes until golden brown. Don’t overcrowd the pan.
- Remove with tongs and drain on paper towels. Let them rest for a minute before serving.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- Chill the cheese cubes before breading for best frying results.
- Double coating helps prevent the cheese from leaking out.
- Try baking or air-frying as a healthier alternative.
