Description
A creamy, cozy one-skillet meal made with orzo pasta, savory chicken sausage, juicy cherry tomatoes, and melted Boursin cheese. Perfect for busy weeknights or casual entertaining.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 12 ounces chicken sausage, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 ½ cups orzo pasta (uncooked)
- 3 cups chicken broth
- 1 pint cherry tomatoes
- 1 (5.2 oz) round Boursin cheese (Garlic & Fine Herbs)
- ½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) if finishing in the oven.
- In a large oven-safe skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced chicken sausage and cook for 5 minutes until browned. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Add orzo and toast for 2 minutes, stirring frequently. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a simmer.
- Add cherry tomatoes and let orzo cook uncovered for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until al dente and most liquid is absorbed.
- Break Boursin cheese into chunks and scatter across the surface. Gently stir to partially melt. Sprinkle Parmesan on top.
- If using oven, transfer skillet and bake uncovered for 5–7 minutes until bubbling and golden. Otherwise, cover and finish on stovetop for 3–4 minutes.
- Remove from heat and sprinkle with fresh parsley.
- Serve warm straight from the skillet.
Notes
- To make it vegetarian, substitute sausage with sautéed mushrooms or chickpeas.
- Don’t overcook the orzo — keep it just al dente.
- Add a squeeze of lemon juice for brightness before serving.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
