Description

A fresh and elegant salad made with peppery arugula, warm caramelized pear slices, creamy buratta, and toasted walnuts, finished with a light balsamic dressing. Sweet, savory, and beautifully balanced.


Ingredients

  • 2 medium ripe pears, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 4 cups fresh arugula
  • 1 ball buratta cheese, about 8 ounces
  • 1/3 cup toasted walnuts, roughly chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper


Instructions

  1. Place a skillet over medium heat and allow it to warm up.
  2. In a small bowl, mix olive oil, balsamic glaze, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  3. Add butter to the warm skillet and let it melt completely.
  4. Add sliced pears to the skillet and sprinkle with brown sugar. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side until golden and caramelized. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. In a large bowl, gently toss the arugula with the prepared dressing.
  6. Arrange the dressed arugula on a serving platter. Top with caramelized pears.
  7. Tear open the buratta and place it in the center of the salad. Sprinkle with toasted walnuts.
  8. Drizzle with a little extra balsamic glaze if desired and serve immediately.

  • Bring the buratta to room temperature before serving for the creamiest texture.
  • Toast walnuts in a dry skillet for 3 to 4 minutes to enhance their flavor.
