Description

These Steak & Onion Jus Chip Flatbreads are a delicious mashup of pub-style comfort and homemade ease. Juicy steak, crispy chips, and a rich onion jus come together in a warm flatbread for a dish that’s hearty, satisfying, and packed with flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large flatbreads
  • 500g steak (sirloin or ribeye)
  • 3 cups cooked potato chips (fries)
  • 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 ½ cups beef stock
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Optional: garlic mayo or aioli

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F) and heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  2. In a saucepan, heat 1 tbsp olive oil. Add onions and garlic, sauté until golden (10 mins). Add beef stock and simmer for 10 more minutes. Stir in butter, season, and set aside.
  3. Arrange chips on a tray and bake until crisp. Season steak with salt and pepper.
  4. Sear steak in hot skillet for 3–4 mins per side. Rest, then slice thinly. Toast flatbreads in a dry pan.
  5. Layer flatbreads with chips, steak, and a drizzle of onion jus.
  6. Top with parsley and optional garlic mayo.
  7. Serve immediately with extra jus on the side.

Notes

  • Rest the steak before slicing to keep it juicy.
  • Use thick-cut chips for added crunch.
  • Warm all components before assembling for best results.
