Description

This sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy Tomato Jam is a flavor-packed spread made from ripe tomatoes, spices, and brown sugar. Perfect for toast, cheese boards, sandwiches, or gifting.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds ripe tomatoes, chopped
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Place chopped tomatoes, brown sugar, vinegar, ginger, garlic, salt, cinnamon, and red pepper flakes in a large saucepan.
  2. Stir well and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 45–60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Continue simmering until the jam is thick and glossy. Stir more frequently near the end to prevent sticking.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  6. Spoon into clean jars. Store in the refrigerator or process for longer storage.

Notes

  • Use very ripe tomatoes for best flavor.
  • Simmer low and slow to build depth and avoid scorching.
  • Use sterilized jars for long-term storage.
