Description

These Apple Roses are elegant, sweet, and easier than they look. Thinly sliced apples rolled in puff pastry with a touch of jam and cinnamon — perfect for brunch, dessert, or impressing guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 red apples (like Gala or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons apricot jam
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon water (to loosen jam)
  • 1 tablespoon flour (for dusting)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting after baking

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a muffin tin.
  2. Slice apples in half, remove cores, and cut into thin slices. Place in a bowl with lemon juice and a bit of water. Microwave for 2–3 minutes to soften.
  3. Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into 6 long strips.
  4. Microwave jam with water until spreadable, then brush a thin layer onto each pastry strip.
  5. Arrange apple slices along the top half of each strip, slightly overlapping with peel side up. Fold bottom half of pastry over the apples.
  6. Roll each strip into a rose shape and place in muffin tin.
  7. Bake for 35–40 minutes, covering with foil if apples brown too quickly.
  8. Let cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Use a mandoline slicer for evenly thin apple slices.
  • Don’t overfill with jam — a thin layer is enough.
  • Best served the same day, but can be reheated in the oven.
