Description
These Apple Roses are elegant, sweet, and easier than they look. Thinly sliced apples rolled in puff pastry with a touch of jam and cinnamon — perfect for brunch, dessert, or impressing guests.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 2 red apples (like Gala or Honeycrisp)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 3 tablespoons apricot jam
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- 1 tablespoon water (to loosen jam)
- 1 tablespoon flour (for dusting)
- Powdered sugar, for dusting after baking
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a muffin tin.
- Slice apples in half, remove cores, and cut into thin slices. Place in a bowl with lemon juice and a bit of water. Microwave for 2–3 minutes to soften.
- Roll out puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into 6 long strips.
- Microwave jam with water until spreadable, then brush a thin layer onto each pastry strip.
- Arrange apple slices along the top half of each strip, slightly overlapping with peel side up. Fold bottom half of pastry over the apples.
- Roll each strip into a rose shape and place in muffin tin.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, covering with foil if apples brown too quickly.
- Let cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- Use a mandoline slicer for evenly thin apple slices.
- Don’t overfill with jam — a thin layer is enough.
- Best served the same day, but can be reheated in the oven.
