Description

Juicy teriyaki glazed chicken coated in a sticky sweet and savory homemade sauce, served over fluffy rice with sesame seeds and green onions for an easy comforting dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 4 cups cooked white rice

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. In a bowl whisk together soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water until smooth.
  3. Lightly oil the skillet if needed.
  4. Add chicken thighs and cook for 5 to 6 minutes per side until golden brown.
  5. Pour the teriyaki sauce into the skillet and simmer until thickened and glossy.
  6. Coat the chicken evenly in the sauce.
  7. Top with green onions and sesame seeds.
  8. Serve warm over cooked white rice.

Notes

  • Pat the chicken dry before cooking for better browning.
  • Do not overcrowd the skillet while cooking.
  • Simmer the sauce gently so it thickens smoothly.
  • Add extra sauce over the rice before serving for even more flavor.
